Calla Olson

class of 2008

Calla Olson received a B.S. in biology with a concentration in cellular and molecular biology. While at UNC Asheville, Calla performed undergraduate research in several laboratories, first in the Chemistry Department and later with Dr. Ted Meigs in the Biology Department. Calla's research is part of a scientific manuscript that Dr. Meigs recently submitted for publication. In 2008, Calla received the Biology Department's Bernhardt-Perry Award for excellence in undergraduate research. Calla received acceptance to several prestigious graduate programs, and currently is pursuing the Ph.D. at Brandeis University in Boston, MA, studying mechanisms that control gene expression in cells.
