Before arriving at UNC Asheville in 1996, Dr. Forrest held positions as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Neurobiology and Behavior at Cornell University (1993-1996), as a Research Scientist at the National Center for Physical Acoustics (1988-1993), and as a Research Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Mississippi 1990-1993). His academic training was in the ecology, behavior and bio-acoustic communication of insects. His current research interests involve evolution of synchrony and the evolution of complex signals in acoustic insects.
